Prosecutors move to have Cox release order revoked

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A former Park Tudor teacher and coach accused of an improper relationship with a student presents an unacceptable danger if released, according to prosecutors.

An appeal filed by United States Attorney Josh Minkler looks to have Kyle Cox’s release order revoked.

On Monday, Judge Debra Lynch initially granted that Cox could be released from custody while awaiting trial. After being notified that prosecutors intended to appeal the decision, Lynch issued a stay in the order, keeping Cox in federal custody.

In an appeal filed Tuesday, argued several factors to try to have Cox remain in federal custody. Prosecutors argue that Cox’s criminal behavior included several calculated acts and that he is an unacceptable danger to the community. Court documents allege that Cox tried to have his victim lie about his actions.
