Rushville pastor facing child molestation charges airlifted to Indy hospital

RUSHVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A Rushville pastor facing 14 charges connected to child molestation cases was brought to an Indianapolis hospital Friday night after police say he tried to take his own life.

Medics were called to Evans’ home in the 200 block of West 5th Street on Friday evening for what police referred to as a medical issue.

Evans was taken to Rush Memorial Hospital and then brought by air ambulance to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

24-Hour News 8 reached out to IU Health Methodist Hospital, but Evans’ condition was not available on Friday night.

Earlier on Friday, 24-Hour News 8 reported that the Rush County prosecutor had filed two additional charges against Evans.

He was the pastor of the Rushville Baptist Temple Church.

Prosecutor Phil Caviness said Friday that another victim, who is 6 years old, came forward.

The new charges are for child molestation and child solicitation.

On Friday morning, a judge ordered Evans to be put on GPS monitoring.

A pre-trial hearing is set for Nov. 28.
