Storm knocks out power to thousands in central Indiana

TIPTON, Ind. (AP) – Some central Indiana residents remained without power after a storm with high winds, heavy rain and lightning moved through in the early morning hours.

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, nearly 3,500 Duke Energy customers and about 300 Indiana Power & Light customers remained without power because of storms that moved through early Sunday morning. There were reports of houses being damaged in Tippecanoe, Warren and Tipton counties.

The weather service said more severe weather, including heavy rainfall, hail damaging winds and lightning, was possible from about 5 p.m. Sunday into the overnight hours.
