Suspect involved in New Castle police-action shooting dies

NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WISH) — A man who officials said attacked a woman with a knife before being shot by officers has died Tuesday morning.

The attack happened October 29 when New Castle police responded to the 1000 block of Church Street following reports of a man chasing a woman with a knife.

Upon arrival, officials observed 41-year-old Brandon Flowers standing over a woman in the backyard with a knife.

Flowers refused to comply with officers’ orders to drop his weapon and stabbed 38-year-old Erin Mahin in the neck, causing officers to shoot at Flowers.

Both Flowers and Mahin were taken to the hospital were taken to the hospital after the incident.

Mahin has been released from the hospital and is expected to recover.
