Teen found after leaving jail for family funeral, not returning

Jay Dyvig was apprehended by Tipton County deputies without incident about 6:05 p.m. March 27 in Elwood, according to a Facebook post from Tipton County Communications E-911-Indiana.

TIPTON, Ind. (WISH) — Authorities are searching for a teen who was let out of jail to attend a funeral but never returned.
The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday that 18-year-old Jay Dyvig was granted a 12-hour furlough Saturday from the Tipton County Jail to go to a family member’s funeral. Dyvig had been in jail on an unnamed charged but not faces a felony charge of Escape – Failure to Return to Lawful Detention.
Dyvig did not return to the jail at his scheduled time and could be in possession of a firearm, the sheriff’s office said. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
The sheriff’s office descibed Dyvig as a 5-feet-9 white male with black hair and blue eyes, weighing 145 pounds.
