Teen victim in Evanston Avenue shooting identified

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — One person is dead following a north side shooting on Tuesday afternoon.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded just before 3 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a person shot in the 4300 block of Evanston Avenue.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 19-year-old Donald Allender, Jr.

IMPD said that Allender was found face down on the sidewalk.

A suspect was seen running away with a rifle.

SWAT and a K-9 were called to the scene, but the search has ended without turning up a suspect.

No description of the suspect is currently available.

IMPD is asking the public to report any suspicious activity that they see. IMPD also said the shooting does not appear to be random.
