Tribute items to be sent to Wilson’s family

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – On Tuesday, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway boxed up flowers, cards, posters, hats and many other items that were left at Gate One in honor of IndyCar driver Justin Wilson. Those items will soon be send to Wilson’s family.

Wilson died in late August following a crash at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania. Wilson’s car came to a stop when he was hit on the head by a piece of debris.

IndyCar fans have also been buying shirts at the gift shop inside the Hall of Fame Museum. IMS said they are having a hard time keeping the shirts in stock because fans are rushing to buy them. On Tuesday afternoon, there were only seven kids shirts left. IMS workers said they are expecting another shipment later this week. The shirts cost $25.

Also, fans are buying a Justin Wilson decal for $5.

All of the money earned from the shirts and decals will go to the Wilson Children’s Fund.
