Tuesday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Here’s a look at Tuesday’s business headlines.

Indiana student debt

College debt in Indiana is on the high side compared to other states.

Wallethub ranks the state 10th for debt.

One reason could be what Wallethub called a lack of student work opportunities in Indiana.

Outside of mortgages, student loans make up the largest component of household debt for Americans.

Facebook

Facebook wants your financial data.

The Wall Street Journal says the social media giant has asked large U.S. banks to share information like credit card transactions and checking account balances so it can market to users.

Facebook has talked about a feature that would show its users their checking-account balances.

It has also pitched fraud alerts.

United Airlines

Delta and United set records for passenger traffic in July.

Delta said it carried a whopping 18.3 million passengers in July across its global network.

United reported carrying 16 million passengers in July, a record for the airline.

Analysts say the growing economy and lower ticket prices have led to more air travel.

Time Warner

The Department of Justice appealed the AT&T Time Warner Meger.

The government says the judge who approved it, ignored common sense.

This the government’s second attempt to stop a dead, which it says will lead to higher prices for consumers.
