Two people dead after Vermillion Co. crash

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – Two people are dead after a single vehicle crash in Vermillion County.

WISH-TV News sister station WTHI News reported that it happened Saturday night at the Brouilettes Creek Bridge on State Road 163, near Blanford.

According to officials, a pickup truck carrying 56-year-old Dennis R. Church and his 24-year-old son Dennis R. Church Jr., both of Clinton, left the road traveling about 235 feet.

The truck then struck a guardrail, continuing about 180 more feet on top of the guardrail before hitting an abutment. The vehicle then hit an overhead bridge that is about 14 feet in the air.

Both men were ejected from the truck.

Church was pronounced dead at the scene.

Church Jr. was taken to Union Hospital in Clinton, where he later died from his injuries.

Police say speed is considered to be a contributing factor in the crash, however, it is still under investigation.
