Unexpected mother delivers 14 lb. baby

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – A woman who didn’t know she was pregnant until her third trimester had an even bigger surprise when she gave birth to record-size 14-pound baby boy.

St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital says Maxxzandra Ford realized she was pregnant after rapidly gaining weight last fall. She went to the doctor, finding out she was 35-weeks along.

St. Joseph’s says the baby boy, named Avery, is the heaviest born at the hospital, tipping the scale at 14.1 pounds, and one of the largest born in the state.

Maxxzandra says because she’s a twin, and felt so big, she initially believed she was having twins herself.

She also has a one-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter at home. Her other babies were nine and 10 pounds each.

“I was cussing up a storm,” Maxxzandra said. “When I felt his head come out, I knew he was bigger than 10 pounds.”

Avery’s a linebacker in the making, his dad said.
