Warm weekend ahead, much cooler next week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Beautiful weather on tap for the weekend. Coolest air of the season arrives to open the work week.

Today:

Mostly sunny to kick off the morning, with just a few patches of fog in our southern counties. Expect some clouds to build as we go through the day. Temperatures will remain well above average, topping out in lower to middle 80s this afternoon.

Tonight:

Mainly clear and quiet. Lows fall to the lower to middle 60s.

Sunday:

Day time hours will be dry across the area. Highs top out in the lower 80s.

An approaching cold front will bring isolated rain chances to the area late Sunday night, with more widespread rain moving in during the overnight hours. Showers will continue into Monday morning.

While we desperately need the rain, amounts will fall well short of what we really need, with most areas across the state picking up less than 1/4″ by Tuesday morning.

8 day forecast:

Big story will be the colder air sliding in behind the Sunday/Monday front. Highs will only hit the 60s for the rest of the week. Another reinforcing shot of chilly air arrives Thursday, where highs will struggle to get out of the 50s for Friday and Saturday.
