Wednesday’s business headlines

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Here’s a look at Wednesday’s business headlines.

5G

Indianapolis is one of the first cities to get the service.

However, since no mobile devices currently support 5G networks, AT&T’s 5G service will be accessible via a mobile hotspot made by Netgear, priced at $500.

The 5G service plan itself will include 15GB of data for $70 per month.

%G is the next generation of wireless and promises super fast downloads and internet browsing.

Organic farming

Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, calculated the impact of the amount of land used for organic farming – which can lead to deforestation elsewhere in the world.

The researchers found that products such as organically farmed peas in Sweden have a 50 percent bigger impact on the environment than food farmed non-organically.

The reason why it is so much worse is that yields are lower because fertilizers aren’t used.

Federal Reserve

The Federal Reserve’s interest-rate hike decision Wednesday will be on of the most important and closely watched in recent memory.

The FED finds itself in a difficult position

Interest rates have been low for so many years and teh FED thinks it needs to raise them to get back to normal but Wall Street and President Trump hate that and its’ sent stocks into a tizzy lately.

The decision is released at 2:15 Eastern time.

Energy

Energy stocks were hit hard Tuesday oil prices took another leg down.

It was the worst performing sector.

Oil prices have fallen 35 percent in the past three months on a glut of supply.
