Wet, rainy weather affects area July Fourth celebrations
SOUTHPORT,Ind. (WISH) – The wet, rainy conditions have affected several area Independence Day celebrations and firework displays.
Southport’s July Fourth Parade and Festival, originally set for Monday, was cancelled and it will not be rescheduled.
Whitestown’s third annual Independence Day celebration and fireworks that was set for July 3, was postponed. It has been moved to Friday, July 8.
Additionally, a new date for Beech Grove’s All American Day in the Park and fireworks will be announced soon. It was postponed due to the wet weather.
Also, the Saxony Beach and Lake Beach Celebration Concert and fireworks display was cancelled. Fireworks have now been rescheduled for September 2.
The town of Rushville’s celebration was affected by the weather, with their firework display being postponed until July 8.
Franklin’s Firecracker Festival was cancelled and will be rescheduled at a future date.
Danville’s Family 4th Fest was also cancelled, but their fireworks display is still scheduled for 10 p.m. Monday.
Indiana Grand Racing and Casino has also announced the postponement of its 4th of July celebration. Festivities have been rescheduled for July 9 beginning at 6 p.m., with an 8 pm. performance by the Jai Baker Band. A 35-minute fireworks show will begin at dusk.
Chesterfield’s fireworks show planned for Sunday evening was canceled.
