Who killed David Phelps?
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A frantic 911 call for help came in around 2:29 a.m. Tuesday. When police arrived they found a 19-year-old shot and killed in his mother’s home.
The shooting happened on the 3100 block of Cluster Pine Drive.
Family members identified the victim as David Phelps.
24-Hour News 8 has learned that Phelps graduated from Warren Central High School a year ago and that he was headed to culinary school this fall.
Police have limited details on a motive, but they believe that Phelps was targeted. According to one family member, Phelps may have killed because of a dispute that took place on Twitter.
Tuesday afternoon, Phelps’ family members were working to make funeral arrangements.
Cheryl Allen is Phelps’ aunt, and she has been through this before. Allen works as a Ten Point Coalition worker. The popular group is known for fighting crime in the Indianapolis and is also credited with helping grieving families.
“When it touches home, it’s unbelievable,” said Allen.
So far police only have a vague description of the suspects. If you have any information call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS, or 262-8477.
