Woman decapitated in Mexico; note found saying husband ‘didn’t want to pay’ ransom
VERACRUZ, Mexico (KRON) – A Mexican businesswoman whose decapitated head was found in a trash bag with a note had written that she was killed because her husband “refused to pay” her ransom.
According to local media reports, Susana Carrera had been kidnapped last week while she was on her way to pick up her daughter from a friend’s home.
Video posted to Twitter shows what officials say appears to be Carrera outside her friend’s home ringing the doorbell.
Her kidnappers then appear to pull up beside her and throw her into a car.

Her body was discovered Wednesday in a parking lot in the city of Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz.
Carrera’s captors had reportedly asked for 4 million pesos, which equals about $208,000.
Carrera’s family told the Heraldo de Mexico they could not afford the ransom.
The note found with her decapitated body reportedly read: “This happened to me because my husband played the tough guy and didn’t want to pay my ransom.”
Carrera and her husband, Luis Manriquez, owned an aluminum company called Pexaliminio.
Prosecutors in Veracruz announced Monday that it was investigating how a leaked photo related to the case was made public.
“The Office of the Attorney General of the state will not tolerate situations like this one, which constitutes a re-victimization and a breach of the duty of secrecy within the investigation,” prosecutors said in a statement.
