Woman sets self on fire, dies in Morristown home

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – The Morristown Fire Chief says the woman who allegedly caught herself on fire and died Thursday, was wearing combustible clothing.

Investigators told 24-Hour News 8 before she caught on fire, she was was putting fire into a wood stove

Police in Shelby County responded to a home in the 200 block of East North Street in Morristown just before 5 p.m Thursday. They said a male told them his wife accidentally caught herself on fire.

The Shelbyville Fire Department Medics and the Morristown Fire Department were called to the scene, but the 42-year-old female, identified as Delores Kelly, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The home only had minor damage from the fire. The incident is believed to be accidental.

The death was under investigation as of Friday morning.
