Woman thrown into Michigan lake after Jet Ski explosion
OVID TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) – A woman was thrown into a Michigan lake Monday when her Jet Ski exploded.
It happened around 12:30 p.m. on the north end of Coldwater Lake near Warren Road and Lake Drive in Ovid Township, which is south of the city of Coldwater, according to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies got to the scene, the woman’s Jet Ski was engulfed in flames. The rider, a 23-year-old Concord woman, was being tended to on shore by an off-duty ER doctor.
Authorities say the Jet Ski had stalled on the water. When the rider tried to restart it, there was an explosion. The woman was thrown into the water and the Jet Ski caught fire.
The rider’s condition was not known Monday evening.
