WTFD: Driver leaves scene after striking grandmother, child
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A grandmother was struck by a vehicle and a child was ejected from a stroller after a hit-and-run on the city’s west side.
According to the Wayne Township Fire Department (WTFD), the accident happened in the 4400 block of West Washington just after 5:30 Wednesday evening.
Both WTFD and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to scene of the accident. WTFD said the vehicle left the scene.
After arriving on scene, members of WFTD began performing life-saving measures on the the infant.
IMPD said the suspect’s vehicle is a black 1999 to 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab with possible gray trim on the lower portion of the body with a chrome front bumper.
WTFD said the vehicle left the scene heading west on Washington Street and then turned north into the neighborhood on the north side of Washington Street.
WTFD said the child is in stable and has been transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health . The grandmother is in good condition.
