23: Croatia Island Travel (Yacht Week & 2 More Weeks Exploring)

July 26, 2018
There are many ways to see the beauty of the Croatia Islands whether it is with a fantastic company like The Yacht Week or on your own schedule using ferries to find the hidden treasures within each island. Hvar, Milna, Vis - they are all worth your time. Croatia is a country of fewer than 5 million people but in the top 20 in tourist destinations around the world because the Adriatic Sea gives a gorgeous setting whether on land or out on the sea. We discuss why we loved Croatia on our first visit using The Yacht Week to hang out with friends (new and old) and why we went back to island hop using the ferries for over two weeks. Main Topics Covered: Croatia Islands (The Yacht Week and Two More Weeks of Discovery) Links Mentioned in the Episode: Birch Boys Coffee - This is the coffee and tea that we love so much we had it shipped to us for our travels.  MooseJaw - A great website to get all of your adventure gear to have an excellent trip.  Croatia ranked among top 20 (18th) most popular tourist destinations in the world. The Yacht Week is the sailing yacht company that we used to see Croatia on a boat with friends  There are two main ferry companies (Jadrolinija and Kapetan Luka) that operate between the islands at very affordable rates  Dubrovnik is a gorgeous fortress like city We used Airbnb during our Croatia Island visit  Zaton veliki is a quaint little town with 3 private beaches and several local restaurants, cafes, and bars overlooking the crystal clear, turquoise sea.  Fans from the Game of Thrones can be seen wearing costumes and taking tours in the streets of Dubrovnik.  We rode the ferry from Dubrovnik to Milna.  Milna is a quaint little town with a very peaceful vibe, located on the island of Brac. We opted to stay just outside of Hvar Town (15-minute walk) to keep our cost down on both food and accommodation. The tiny, quaint island of Vis is known for its vast landscapes of vineyards and wineries. It is the perfect place to get some rest and relaxation. Ferry from Vis to Split using Jadrolinija - purchase tickets online in advance.  Kaštela is located conveniently by the airport, and is quite charming!  Make sure you understand what to pack. Pack Less! Here is a great post on everything we packed in a single backpack.  You can’t do everything when you travel.
