Butler falls at Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — Eric Dixon scored 22 points to help Villanova defeat Butler 72-62 on Tuesday night.

Dixon added six rebounds for the Wildcats (15-11, 8-7 Big East Conference). Justin Moore scored 13 points, going 4 of 7 (3 for 5 from 3-point range). Brendan Hausen shot 4 for 6, including 3 for 4 from beyond the arc to finish with 13 points.

The Bulldogs (16-11, 7-9) were led by Jahmyl Telfort, who posted 19 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Posh Alexander added 15 points, six rebounds and two steals for Butler. In addition, Pierre Brooks finished with 10 points.

Villanova took the lead with 7:28 to go in the first half and never looked back. The score was 44-35 at halftime, with Moore racking up 11 points. Dixon scored 15 points in the second half.
