Feels-like temperatures near 110° Thursday

Marcus’ 4 a.m. Thursday forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Our current heat wave peaks Thursday with the hottest temperatures of the summer. Relief in sight for the weekend.

Thursday:

We’re keeping an eye on a complex of storms moving through Ohio this morning. Current trends show this cluster slowly dying off, but projections do bring some cloud cover to our area this morning as a result. A few showers could be possible in far eastern counties this morning, too.

Despite this last minute change, this thinking on the heat remains the same for today. Excessive heat warning remains in place for the entire area.

Even with cloud cover this morning, sunshine should boost temperatures pretty quickly this afternoon. Highs will top out in mid/upper 90s.

Feels like temps will be around 110°.

Thursday night:

Partly cloudy and muggy. Lows fall to the middle 70s.

Friday:

One more hot day, although slightly cooler than Thursday. High temperatures will top out in the lower 90s around the metro. Hotter temperatures expected in southern Indiana.

Heat indices will be closer to 100° for Friday afternoon.

A fast moving cold front could spark a few showers and storms overnight into Saturday morning. There is a marginal risk for severe storms. Gusty winds will be the primary threat.

Weekend:

Much more comfortable air settles in for the weekend. Some clouds early Saturday morning, but should give way to sunshine. Highs in the mid 80s Saturday and lower 80s Sunday.

8 day forecast:

Near normal temperatures expected for much of next week, with highs in the lower 80s. Very limited rain chances are expected over the next 8 days.
