INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re tracking the return of winter cold and snow. A winter weather advisory will go into effect at 1 a.m. Wednesday until 1 a.m. Thursday.

Tuesday night: A few showers will linger into the evening commute. Much colder air will sink into the state. Expect damp and foggy conditions overnight.


Wednesday: We’ll start our day with a isolated rain/snow mix. Temperatures will fall throughout the day from the 30s to the 20s. Light rain will transition to all snow by late morning.

Minor snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected for areas along interstate 70. Higher totals are expected for areas north of Interstate 70. Expect Wednesday afternoon temperatures in the 20s. 

Wednesday night: Use caution on the roads; they will be slick and snow-covered. Light snow showers will linger as temperatures fall to the low 20s late.

Thursday: It will be dry, cold and partly sunny for much of the day.

8 Day forecast: Prepare for a very cold end to the workweek. Enjoy plenty of sunshine Friday; temperatures will remain below freezing for much of the day. It will be sunny and slightly warmer Saturday. Sunday will be the best weather day of the week as temperatures return to the 40s.
