Police chase man through 3 counties and 2 stolen cars

RANDOLPH COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police say a man from Maryland lead police on a wild chase through three counties and involving a car chase, two stolen cars and a stolen phone.

Early Friday morning, Hagerstown police were involved in a short car pursuit through Wayne county that ending in the car they were chasing crashing. The suspect driving the car that crashed fled the scene.

A short time later, at 4:30 a.m. Randolph County police responded to a call of a stolen black 2000 Ford truck at the 6000 block of South 900 West.

Police say the man left the stolen truck at the Redkey Pak A Sak at the 9000 block of IN-67.

While the male suspect was leaving the area, he asked a female to borrow her cell phone, which he took with him.

Soon after, police received a call of a second stolen car from the Redkey area – a Dodge Durango.

Police were able to trace the phone to an area near SR 332 and I-69. When police arrived to the area, they found the male suspect entering a Ricker’s gas station.

After a short time hiding in the gas station bathroom, police found the stolen cell phone from Redkey on him.

Police arrested him and took him to the Jay County Jail for questioning.

The suspect then identified himself as Kali Arthur Cryor, 21, of Landover, Maryland, and admitted to getting into a fight with his girlfriend two days beforehand. This lead to Cryor taking his girlfriend’s car, driving to Indiana, getting into a police pursuit in Hagerstown and then stealing two cars and a cell phone.

Cryor is currently in custody at the Jay County Jail, and faces possible charges of auto theft and theft in Jay County, auto theft in Randolph County and resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle in Wayne County.
