Dad gets 66 years in twin sons’ deaths

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The father of twin boys who were killed in a Tippecanoe County fire was sentenced to 66 years behind bars Thursday.

Thirty-two-year-old Brandon Abbott pleaded guilty to two felony charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death in March.

Abbott’s 3-year-old twins, Landon and Liam, were found dead in their home on Brandy Kay Court April 5, 2014. Authorities believe the fire started in a room that had a torch and a propane canister, which later exploded. Abbott admitted to using that torch to smoke marijuana the night prior to the fire.

On Thursday, Tippecanoe County Prosecutor Pat Harrington said Abbott was sentenced to 66 years in prison and 4 years of probation.
