Indy Eleven prepares to kick-off home opener

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -The Indy Eleven soccer team will host their first home game of the season today at 7:30 p.m. at the Michael A. Carroll Stadium at IUPUI.

The home opening match will be played against the New York Cosmos. The two teams have met three times and all of those games ended with a draw. Tonight, the Indy Eleven are going for their first win against the team.

The stadium seats 10,000 people and soccer fans are expected to pack “The Mike.” As of Friday, there were fewer than 500 tickets left. The team is hoping for a sold out match.

Indy Eleven’s President and General Manager, Peter Wilt, said, “The fans really give us energy. There is nothing else like having a packed Carroll Stadium. 10,000 screaming fans, the Brickyard Battalion exhorting the players on to victory. And remember now we’re at a six game undefeated streak and the fans went wild last year when we finally started to win and hopefully we can keep that going.”

The Indy Eleven home opener will be broadcasted live on WISH-TV following a live pregame show on 24-Hour News 8
