Ten Point responds to deadly police action shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Ten Point Coalition says they want to plan a meeting with community leaders within the next two days after an officer-involved, deadly shooting on the city’s east side this weekend.
On Sunday afternoon, a police officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department pulled over a vehicle near East 31st Street and North Sherman Drive. Police said one of the two people inside the vehicle ran off.
The officer followed the suspect, who IMPD officials said was armed. Police say there was a struggle in a wooded area for the officer’s gun and the suspect was shot and killed. Two IMPD officers were also grazed by bullets.
“We’ve got to talk it through,” Reverend Charles Harrison with the Ten Point Coalition said. “I think we have a good relationship with the police department and I think we can work through some of the concerns.”
