IndyCar driver’s car catches fire at IMS

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Simona de Silvestro’s vehicle caught fire during practice at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Tuesday afternoon.

The vehicle first started smoking, and then flames were quickly visible. Video from IMS indicated she got out of the car and was standing outside of it while crews put out the flames.

It didn’t appear other cars or drivers were involved.

Andretti Autosport tweeted that she was out of the car and all smiles after the incident:
