Special prosecutor clears South Bend mayor’s chief of staff

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) – A special prosecutor says an investigation into allegations that the South Bend mayor’s chief of staff had a city employee do work at her home at taxpayer expense found no wrongdoing.

The South Bend Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1Rdaeoq) former state Inspector General David Thomas issued a report Thursday saying no evidence was discovered that showed Chief of Staff Kathryn Roos had violated any laws. He says the review is complete and she is exonerated.

Thomas says the report is limited to Roos and that other matters not related to Roos remain pending.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg says he is pleased, but not surprised by the result of the investigation.

Roos says the report confirms what she has said from the beginning and she is glad the investigation is over.
