Pacers select Myles Turner in NBA Draft

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WISH) — The Indiana Pacers have selected Myles Turner from Texas in the NBA Draft.

The Pacers made the Texas center the 11th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

“I’m happy to be a part of this Indiana organization now,” said an emotional Turner minutes after he was chosen 11th overall in the NBA draft. “I’m going to give it my all, I’m going to give it everything to the city of Indianapolis and just the organization in itself and words can’t describe how excited and elated I am right now.”

Myles said he is ready to show Indianapolis his hard work.

“I think it’s a perfect style of play for me. I feel like I get up and down the floor, I’m starting to get up and down the floor a lot better than I was at the collegiate level and I like playing fast. You know it’s definitely what the NBA game is starting to be about.”

Pacers head coach Frank Vogel, who met Turner when the team brought him in for a workout a few weeks ago likes his game and his attitude.

“First and foremost, he’s a high-character guy,” said Vogel. “He’s a great worker, very intelligent and has a good basketball I.Q. and you know, that’s what we’ve sort of build this thing around over the last few years. He’s definitely someone we feel like can contribute right away but has maybe more upside of potential because he’s so young, because he’s got such a great body and because he’s such a hard worker.”

Turner joins a Pacers team undergoing some changes.

David West elected for free agency on Wednesday and Roy Hibbert is looking at a diminished role in 2015.
