Military father surprises son at baseball game
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WISH) – A 5-year-old boy was surprised by his military father at a Tennessee Smokies baseball game.
Adam Dowell, a 26-year-old sergeant in the United States Army, planned the surprise of a lifetime on Friday during the first inning of the baseball game.
His son Braydon was “randomly” chosen from the crowd to participate in a “Dancing in the Dark” competition, but, it wasn’t random at all. His parents planned the entire thing.
The video shows him taking off the blindfold he had to wear for the competition, and then turning around to find his dad standing behind him. Seconds after he realized it was his father, he ran right into his arms.

Sergeant Dowell had been deployed for 10 months. He said he was anxious while waiting for his son to turn around.
“Oh man. It was just excitement and joy. I was watching him dance on the field and I just wanted to grab him up before he took his blindfold off. I was just really excited to be back home with him,” Adam told TODAY.com.
The reunion had the entire stadium on their feet, applauding. Dowell said he chose this setting to surprise his son because the two have been playing baseball together since Braydon was just 1-year-old.
Not only he did surprise his son, but he surprised his daughter, too. She walked outside to find a giant box wrapped as a present. When she opened it, he popped out.
Dowell has been deployed twice, but he’s now home for good.
