Clean up efforts continue in Hamilton County

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — Clean up efforts continue in Hamilton County with some of the hardest hit areas being Noblesville.

A massive tree toppled over and hit a traffic light and power lines before landing in someone’s yard.

It happened at 16th Street and Conner Monday afternoon.

The road had to be closed off while crews cleaned up the mess. It reopened around 8:30 p.m.

In addition to Noblesville, other parts of Hamilton County like Fishers, also had some damage.

One homeowner told 24-Hour News 8 she had massive limbs and branches snapped off because of the wind. She said the last time that tree had any damage was when it was struck by lightning.

She said the strong wind also destroyed her patio furniture and umbrellas.

The City of Fishers Department of Public Works said they had a couple of incidents of fallen limbs, but nothing too major.

Maintenance crews at Sunlake Apartments spent most of their evening trying to clean up the mess before the second round of storms.

Crews told 24-Hour News 8 the wind knocked over the tree limbs causing it land on the pool house fence.

They also had to saw off what’s left of a big tree after it collapsed at Sunblest Apartments.

Some people living in that complex said they are just ready for mother nature to play nice.

“I remember a couple of years ago there was a drought there was no rain at all for almost the whole summer,” said Mike Taylor, Fishers resident. “I don’t know, it’s making up for it now, every other day there’s a storm. It’s pretty bad.”

Downed limbs and branches were also stopped over at 141st and Allisonsville Road. Part of a big became mangled up in a metal fence.

A spokesperson for the City of Fishers said that residents can file a report online for any fallen limbs.
