3 family members die after Owen County fire

OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Three family members have now died after their Owen County home was destroyed by fire Wednesday, Owen County emergency management officials confirmed.

Dan Reynolds, Joy Reynolds and 11-year-old Bailey Little were home at the time of the fire Wednesday morning.

There’s a vigil planned for the three victims Friday night at 9 at Owen Valley Sports Complex, 575 Fifth Ave., Spencer, Indiana.

The Owen County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigation Division are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

“I am committed to this investigation” said said Owen County Sheriff Sam Hobbs. “If needed I will request outside independent investigators or engineers to determine the cause of this fire”.

Both agencies believe an explosion was not the cause of the fire.

“We know the community is grieving, and we are working hard to find answers,” said Hobbs. “This process takes time, and there are still a lot of pieces that need to be put together. Rest assured that we will continue to work to bring the community closure. Please keep the Reynolds Family, Bailey Family and the Owen County community in your thoughts, prayers and actions.”
