Former pastor sentenced for child molestation

WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A former pastor accused of child molestation was sentenced in a White County courtroom Friday.

James Crawn, 46, pleaded guilty in August to a count of child molestation, a Class A felony.

Crawn is a former pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Idaville. He was arrested in late April and charged with two counts of child molestation, as well as child seduction and sexual misconduct with a minor.

On Friday, Crawn was sentenced to 22 years in the Department of Corrections. As part of his plea agreement, the court dropped the other three charges.

Crawn made a statement in court, apologizing to the judge and the court saying, “I’m ready to face whatever man wants to give me as my punishment.”

He also apologized to his family and church friends saying he has “learned a lot.”

The child Crawn admitted to molesting was 13 years old at the time.

Family, friends and the victim himself wrote letters to the judge to consider during the sentence.
