Colts Best Tailgate winner announced

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Tailgating is a big part of Colts culture, but only one could be named the Colts Best Tailgate.

On Sunday morning, Sons of Tailgating and Tailgate Alley competed for the title. The two finalists both had food, music, and games.

Judges started evaluating each tailgating group at 9:00 a.m. and gave a score for overall presentation (look and feel/amenities), Colts enthusiasm (both visual and by the tailgate attendees), food quality (finalists must incorporate food items produced by Indiana farmers) and creativity. About 30 minutes after judging started, it was announced “Sons of Tailgating” was the winner.

David Stepleton said, “We love to tailgate, but it does feel good to win. It does. I got to tell you it’s a great feeling.”

“Sons of Tailgating” is a group of relatives and friends. Stepleton said they started small, but the group has grown.

The winning group will receive $1,000 in cash, a $500 Meijer Gift Card, a Colts Team Autographed item, a $500 Colts Pro Shop Gift Card and have their name placed on the ‘Colts Tailgate of the Year’ Trophy.

“Tailgate Alley” will receive a $300 Meijer Gift Card for placing second.

The contest was presented by the Indiana Corn Marketing Council and the Indiana Soybean Alliance.
