Local organization provides supplies, shelter for animals

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The cold weather in central Indiana has been especially hard on animals.

On Saturday, the Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (FIDO) handed out free supplies to help pet owner take care of their animals during the cold weather.

The city passed new ordinances that call for extra protection for outdoor pets when temperatures drop below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

The not-for-profit provided straw to dog owners and a shelter for cats on Saturday.
