Man pleads guilty to 3 murders in drug robbery gone wrong
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man from Gary, Indiana has pleaded guilty to three counts of murder.
Officials say Montrel Humphrey, 20, of Gary, Indiana, accepted a plea deal.
In May of 2014, police arrived were called to a scene where shots had been reported. Police found two men shot and killed outside the front door of a home on the city’s west side.
A third man was found shot behind the residences. Medics took him to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
Police identified two of the victims as 34-year-old Stranger Dunn and 33-year-old Esker Dodson-Walker. The third victim was identified as 21-year-old Valdemar Enriquez of Texas.
Detectives believe Humphrey and others came to the home to commit a drug robbery. During the robbery, the three victims were killed in a gunfire exchange, according to police.
Heroin and marijuana were taken from the home. Police said all of the people involved in this deadly shooting have connections to Gary, Indiana.
Humphrey will be sentenced in March.
