American Ninja Warrior sets up in the Circle City

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Set-up is underway on the north end of Monument Circle for the American Ninja Warrior shoot planned for next week. Rigging is already assembled for the obstacle course.

By Wednesday, there will be a half-moon shaped course, ready to test about 130 ninja athletes over two days. The curved obstacle course is a first for the show.

The north half of Monument Circle closed Thursday. It will remain closed until April 30th.

The rest of the circle, the south half, will close on April 27th at 3 p.m. to prepare for the shoot and will stay closed until Friday, April 29th around 7 a.m. You still will be able to access businesses in the area by walking or with a vehicle on a must-need basis.

Indianapolis is one of the six cities chosen to be a part of season 8 for American Ninja Warrior.

There will be two overnight shoots: one Wednesday night into Thursday and another Thursday night into Friday morning, April 27-29. The shoots are scheduled to begin around 9 p.m. and could last until 5 a.m.

There will an audience of about 500 people. If you want a chance to be in that crowd, you’ll have to join the waiting list.

As for the course, producers and crews will keep the specifics under wraps until the shoot begins. Secrecy is a big part of the competition, so athletes don’t know exactly what to train for beforehand. The episode is slated to air in June.

VisitIndy leaders say the shoot may help draw more television events to Indianapolis. This event is expected to bring about 2,000 people to the city with an economic impact of $1,000,000.
