Trump to meet with potential VP contender

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Donald Trump is expected to meet with a possible vice presidential contender Monday.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee is scheduled to meet with Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) at the Trump Tower in New York. There’s no official word on what the two will be talking about, but many top Republicans think Corker is a contender to be Trump’s running mate.

Corker is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and had good things to say about Trump’s foreign relations speech last month. According to the Washington Post, Trump told friends he appreciated Corker’s support of the speech, especially when other sin the party were critical of him. 

In the past Trump has said that he would pick a political person as his running mate.

Indiana Senator Dan Coats and Gov. Mike Pence have also been mentioned as possibilities. Both have suggested they don’t have any interest in that.But IU grad and NBA owner Mark Cuban told NBC’s Meet the Press that he’s open to a conversation about running as vice president with Trump or Hillary Clinton.

“If she’s willing to listen and if she’s willing to hear the other side of things, then I’m wide open to discussing them,” Cuban said.

Cuban said Trump has a “real chance to win” but his statements sound like, “he’s proposing things based off the last person he talked to.”

And if those don’t work out, the reality show star says maybe he’ll run for president in 2020 or 2024.

A new poll out this past weekend shows Hillary Clinton is now just three points ahead of Donald Trump. In the same poll in April, she was ahead of him by eleven points. Bernie Sanders leads Trump by fifteen points in a head-to-head match up.
