Tree branch kills 10-year-old boy at Indiana Beach Campground

WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A 10-year-old boy was pronounced dead after a portion of a tree fell on the tent he was occupying at Indiana Beach Campground.

According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, a large tree branch fell and landed on a tent with a family inside from Mishawaka, Indiana. The 911 call was made to the White County Communications Center just before 8:30 a.m. regarding an injured child.

White County Sheriff Patrick Shafer said Indiana Beach security officers performed CPR on the boy until paramedics arrived. The boy was transported to IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello where he was pronounced dead.

The White County Sheriff’s Office, the Monticello Police Department, along with Indiana State Police, the White County Coroner’s Office and Indiana Beach Security all assisted with the investigation.
