Woman critically hurt in apparent drive-by in Fort Wayne

 FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – One woman was critically wounded after several shots were fired at a home on Fort Wayne’s southeast side Tuesday afternoon.

Police were called around noon to a home in the 4500 block of Anthony Wayne Drive, near Capitol Avenue. According to investigators, a car drove by the home and someone opened fire. The woman was inside the home with family at the time of the shooting.

Witnesses told 24-Hour News 8’s sister station, Wane, that they heard possibly 10 shots. Officers have marked at least 12 shell casings along the roadway.

Immediately after the call, several squad cars were parked around the area, which was cordoned off by police tape. Firefighters were also at the scene.

Police spokesman Michael Joyner said police are looking for suspects and trying to figure out a motive.
