Multi-vehicle crash sends 4 teens to hospital

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – Police are investigating after a multi-vehicle crash in Shelby County.

When officers arrived in the area of I-74 eastbound near the 101 mile marker, they said a black Chrysler van was inverted in the eastbound lanes, along with a silver Saturn.

Police said Life Line was called to the scene to transport one of the patients, the others were transported to a hospital in the area.

After investigation, police said the black Chrysler van was westbound when it skid through the median causing it to roll over and become airborne, then it was struck by the Saturn. One person from the van was ejected at the time of the collision.

Police identified the driver of the Chrysler as Douglas Hirschfield, 18 of Indianapolis. Occupants in the van were 19-year-old Luca Ruby, 18-year-old Lewis Dilts, 18-year-old Timothy Brogan, and 18-year-old Patrick Brogan.

The driver of the Saturn was Cecilia Snow, 19 of Greensburg. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Brogan, Dilts and Ruby are still in the hospital, listed in stable but critical condition.

Police said toxicology reports are still pending for both drivers.
