Trump supporter’s property vandalized with obscenity
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Two people were trying to share their opinions of Donald Trump on the city’s southeast side, but one of them was breaking the law.
Somebody vandalized a Trump supporter’s property by spray painting an obscene phrase on large boulders at the end of a driveway. It read, “F*** TRUMP” in bright neon colors. The property owner believes it happened late at night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
“You can express your opinions, that’s fine, but there’s a respectful way to do it,” said neighbor Steve Calo.
The pro-Donald Trump sign on the victim’s property is an example of Calo’s point. The spray paint on these boulders nearby is not.
“That’s just bothersome, it really is. A lot of people see it and it just shouldn’t happen,” Calo said.
Calo lives around the corner and passes by the property every day, one of many drivers along Mathews Road in Franklin Township whose attention was stolen by the colorful words flashing off these rocks.
“A lot of people are going to see that and unfortunately someone is going to have to clean it up,” he said.
24-Hour News 8 talked with the property owner on the phone. He says months earlier someone knocked his large Trump sign out of the frame.
“The day it was gone, I noticed right away,” added Calo. But nobody in the area expected a person’s dislike of the Trump to reach a new extreme.
“This is a very heated (presidential) race and people I think are this year more passionate,” said Calo. Passion is one thing, profanity is another and Calo feels using that to express an opinion, especially on someone else’s property, is wrong.
“Stick the sign in the yard, that’s fine. Whoever did (the vandalism) go stick your sign in your yard. Put that out there,” Calo said.
The property owner filed a police report but he has no idea who is behind the vandalism.
