Infant found dead in shallow grave in Michigan
JACKSON CO., Michigan (WDTN) – Dayton,Ohio Police used information from parents to lead authorities in Jackson County, Michigan to the body of a dead infant.
The baby boy’s body was found in Jackson County, Michigan early on Saturday morning. Officials believe he was around 9-months-old at the time of his death.
An unnamed source with Dayton Police said 24-year-old Timothy Young and 22-year-old Brittani Hill told detectives they had buried their baby at their Michigan home.
According to the source, Young and Hill told police they had moved from Dayton to Michigan. While they were in Michigan, they claim the baby choked and died.
After moving back to Dayton from Michigan, Young and Hill came to the Dayton Police Department and told police about the child’s death.
Young and Hill are being held on charges related to the crime in Dayton, Ohio.
Jackson County, Michigan Prosecutor Jerry Jarynzka has begun the process of extraditing them to Michigan.
On Friday, July 22, Dayton Police detectives contacted the Jackson County Sheriff’s Officer about a possible child’s death that happened somewhere in Jackson County.
Dayton Police had contact with Young and Hill, who provided important information about the location of the child’s body.
Based on the information, police determined the child was buried in the back yard of a home in the 12000 block of Tophith Road.
Deputies and detectives from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded and secured the scene.
The child’s body was found in a shallow grave with the help of Dayton Police Detectives. Early on Saturday, detectives with assistance from the Michigan State Police Crime Lab recovered the body.
Young and Hill have not been formally charged and are awaiting extradition to Michigan.
