Body, car pulled from Delaware County pond
YORKTOWN, Ind. (AP) – Divers and emergency responders have retrieved a car and the body of a Muncie man from a pond in eastern Indiana.
Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn tells The Star Press crews investigating a report that a car had hit a utility pole and entered the pond about 3 a.m. Sunday found the car but no one inside.
Hahn says a dive team found the body of 20-year-old Darrion Lamonte Johnson in the water. A photo on the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page shows divers looking for the body.
The pond is located north of Yorktown, about 45 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
Hahn says it’s not clear how Johnson left the car. He appeared to have been the only occupant of the car at the time of the crash.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
