Arrest made in connection to June shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police have made an arrest in connection to a June shooting.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, 35-year-old Aaron Staton has been arrested for the death of 20-year-old Netria Lyons.

Police initially responded to calls of a person shot in an apartment in the 6300 block of Mission Terrence on June 28. Lyons was found suffering from apparent signs of trauma, she was later pronounced dead on scene.

An arrest warrant was issued for Staton Monday afternoon, and soon after Staton was located with the help of IMPD’s Gang Unit.

Police said Staton was taken into custody without incident.

He faces preliminary charges for murder and possession of a handgun without a license.
