Body found in Indianapolis apartment complex pond

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The body of a missing man was found in an Indianapolis retention pond at an apartment complex Saturday morning.

IMPD detectives do not suspect foul play, and they think it could be an accidental drowning.

Andre Cooper, 38, was found in the pond at Westbury Court Apartments, near 79th Street and Georgetown Road, just before noon, according to police.

Police say they were called by a woman who wanted to report her brother missing. While they were on scene, someone else called to report a body in a nearby retention pond.

An empty bottle of alcohol and a pack of cigarettes were found near the pond.

The Marion County coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death.
