ACLU passing out 1,000 US Constitutions, holding voter registration drive
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana will join several community partners to pass out 1,000 U.S. Constitutions to the public and hold a registration drive on Constitution Day Friday morning.
The ACLU is having the event as part of Indiana’s 2016 Constitution Day program, which has new online resources for Indiana teachers who are required to teach students about the Constitution on Constitution Day.
“The ACLU’s role is to protect the rights of everyone, and we are thrilled that more people than ever are expressing an interest in their constitutional rights and the rights of their neighbors, said ACLU of Indiana Executive Director Jane Henegar.
The community partners include:
- Exodus Refugee Immigration Inc.
- Freedom Indiana
- Greater Indianapolis NAACP
- Immigrant Welcome Center
- Muslim Alliance of Indiana
- Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky
- Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council
The event is happening Friday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Monument Circle.
