Semi hauling cattle overturns, closes SR 32 in Boone County
BOONE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — An overturned semi caused the closure of a Boone County road for hours Friday morning.
Authorities said a semi hauling a trailer full of cattle overturned around 1:30 a.m. on State Road 32 near State Road 75, not far from Western Boone Junior-Senior High School.
The truck driver was unhurt, but police said 10 of the 63 cattle aboard died in the accident. The driver reportedly lost control due to wet conditions.
As they were rounded up, cattle were taken to nearby Demerey Farms. One cow was not captured until around 7:45 a.m.
State Road 32 was closed until 8 a.m. Drivers heading to the high school were asked to detour while the road was blocked.
