Driver suffers medical issue, runs into teacher working as crossing guard

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A teacher is on the way to the hospital after being struck by a car.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says a teacher at Eastridge Elementary was struck by a car while working as a crossing guard near 10th Street and German Church Road.

Spokesman Dennis Jarrett of the Warren Township school district, the teacher is not being identified but works at Eastridge Elementary. The teacher has broken ribs and a broken collar bone and will be staying in hospital overnight, he said. 

IMPD says the driver suffered a medical issue before the crash and that this is not a criminal issue.
