Inmate found dead at Marion County Jail
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police are investigating the Saturday death of an inmate at the Marion County Jail.
Joshua Ellis, 33, was found unresponsive inside his cell around 3:05 p.m. Saturday. He was declared deceased at 3:26 p.m.
Ellis was booked into the jail July 9 on three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and possession of marijuana with prior conviction.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Marion County Forensic Services Agency and the Marion County Coroner’s Office were investigating Ellis’s death on Saturday.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal affairs investigation into the incident.
